Dr. Matthew Finnegan, MD, FACS, FCCWS

Biography

Dr. Finnegan has made considerable contributions to the art and science of wound healing, helping to develop a physician-directed, nurse practitioner-managed, patient-centered wound care model that has become the standard of care.  

He currently serves as the Chief, Division of General Surgery at Lourdes Health System in Camden, NJ and as a Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery with Rowan University School of Medicine.  Dr. Finnegan is also the Medical Director of Lourdes Medical Associates Surgical Specialists and the surgical consultant at Magee Rehabilitation Center in Philadelphia.  

He directs the Lourdes-Magee program to provide care to the most complex wounds in patients with spinal cord injury.  The benefits of this program have been presented at national and international forums as a model of clinical excellence.  Previously, Dr. Finnegan served as the Director of the Institute of Wound Healing and Limb Preservation at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, NJ.  He received his MD from Drexel University College of Medicine.
